As a follow-up to the terribly exciting chili recipe contest I held earlier this month for a Restaurant.com gift certificate reward, I'd like to announce the winner(s). There are two. Why, you ask?
Because two people responded.
They're both my friends. In real life. Outside the blogosphere. Basically, I paid them.
Congratulations Jen and Lexie! It's such a coincidence that I know both of you. And that you know each other. And that we all used to work together.
Looks like we're all going to dinner together at one of Chicagoland's fancy Restaurant.com establishments.
Yes, I'll pay.

I won! I never win anything :). Here is the recipe for my dad's three bean chili.
This is a slow cooker recipe so the longer it cooks the better.
Ingredients:
•1 lbs. of ground beef
•12 oz. cans of the following: diced tomatoes, corn, kidney beans, black beans, pinto beans
•1 small jar of picante salsa
•Chili arbol (These are little red chilis with a very big kick. Depending on your preference for spiciness throw in the soup when it's cooking but don't eat them! They’re just for flavor)
•Water – typically one can of water per can of ingredient, but add more or less depending on how thick you like your chili
•Salt
•Cumin
•Onion
•Garlic
Directions:
•Brown the hamburger, adding the onion (my dad minces this very finely), garlic, salt and cumin
•Put beef in crock pot and add in beans, corn, tomatoes, salsa and chili arbol
•Cook for a few hours
This recipe will fill a large crockpot and feeds 4-6 people. It’s loaded with “protein” aka gas inducers so you may want to slip some beano in or have gas-ex on hand. Let’s face it, guys are disgusting and I’m sure every woman has experienced a “dutch oven” once or twice in her life.
On the lighter side, this is a personal favorite of mine. It’s Ellie Krieger’s White Chili.
